Jen's 3 favourite expressionist works are on the road.

To the BOOK BOUTIQUE in BUNDABERG to be exact, on the 30th September.

The Book Boutique Bundaberg seems to be in a state in love with books and art and celebrates constantly by including small exhibitions of local artists on their walls. Visitors can take in creativity at every turn.

Jennifer M Ryan, an artist from Captain Creek in central Queensland, has submitted three paintings for the next Book Boutique Bundaberg exhibition: Opening Night is Saturday 30th September. Closing Date is 17th November, 2023.

The artist chose paintings with a story: '

The Waiting', created through the pain of observing and celebrating the pain of relationships; 'This Lady from the Bush is heading for Town', a favourite self portrait; 'Not Waiting in the Wings Any Longer', a cheeky look at getting on with life as an older person.

Western Australian by birth (Pemberton), Jennie started adult life as an outdoors person, with a career in education. When suddenly, 35 years ago, she had to immediately stop all forms of sport and physical activity, drawing and painting filled the gap. Watercolour, digital art and finally oil and acrylic paints and pastels went into that huge gap.

Rural Australian life and bush environments are places of inspiration for Jennie, and can be seen in her paintings. Her works regularly have a strong sense of the realities and vitality present in her everyday life.

"I am thrilled to have my work in such a unique local exhibition," said Jennie, “ I like to read faces and represent what I feel through artwork. Over time, the secrets held by women in their everyday lives became a focus and passion. This passion is the core to many of my works. Showing these 3 favourite expressionist works just adds to my pleasure."
